Tip of the Week

Keep restaurant meals to a minimum. Have lunch at department store cafeterias, such as "Karstadt" or "Hertie" (two major German department store chains). The variety and the food are decent, and it`s up to 30% cheaper than a meal at a restaurant. Also try German fast food. "Nordsee" restaurants have self-service and sell a variety of tasty fish sandwiches. You can always count on finding an "Imbissstand" (snack stall) and buy a German hot dog ("Wiener"), brats, "Currywurst", a "Schaschlick-Spiess" or fries ("Pommes Frites"). Instead of having dessert at a restaurant, head for an ice cream parlor. You can have a scoop of ice cream for about 50 cents, and it`s delicious.
