The following discounts are sold in Germany only. The Bahncard (currently 133 Euro) gives a 50% discount on 2nd class tickets for a year. Those 60 or older, under 23, students under 27, and spouses (traveling with someone with the Bahncard) can obtain the same card for 69 Euro. Children under 18 pay 33 Euro. The Guten Abend ticket lets night owls travel anywhere second class between 7 p.m. (2 p.m. on Saturdays) and 3 a.m. the next day for about 30 Euro. This ticket is slightly more expensive between Fridays and Saturdays (38 Euro). The Schoenes Wochenende ticket for 20 Euro gives five people unlimited travel on nonexpress trains for a whole day - either Saturday or Sunday. Buy these specials directly at a German train station.
