September 27, 2002, Newsletter Issue #109: Passports and Formalities

Tip of the Week

If you are visiting Berlin, extensions can be applied for at the "Landeseinwohneramt", Friedrichstrasse 219 (phone: 699-5). Be aware that all Germans are required to carry an ID card, which police and other public officials can request when they so wish. You, as a visitor must retain your passport at all times. It is wise to carry certified photocopies in case your documents get stolen. It is also advisable to write down the address and location of the embassy of your country of origin prior to departure. Go online and view their recommendations for Germany.
