"The Germans" deals with major trends and particularities of Germany's development from an empire (Kaiserreich) to a dictatorship (Drittes Reich) and finally to a moden federal republic. It describes the raise of National Socialism (late Weimarer Republik) and the resulting break of the country into two German states (BRD - DDR).
