Flugschriften, ein Vorlaeufer der modernen Zeitungen, waren im 16. Jahrhundert weit verbreitet. Sie waren darauf angelegt, politische und soziale Forderungen breiter Schichten des Volkes anzusprechen. Ein Beispiel ist Thomas Muenzers Artikelbrief von 1525, der zur Zeit des Bauernkrieges geschrieben wurde.
