October 4, 2002, Newsletter Issue #110: What To Pack

Tip of the Week

In winter, a heavy coat, scarf, gloves and thermal underwear are essential. Throughout the year, it is advisable to dress in layers to cope with likely temperature fluctuations. This is particularly true in winter, when moving between the cold air of the streets and the often suffocating atmosphere of centrally-heated buildings. Given the fairly even distribution of rainfall throughout the year, waterproof clothing should be carried at all times. Footwear should be comfortable and sturdy. However, you may easily replace anything forgotten or lost in one of Germany`s many department stores.
