January 31, 2003, Newsletter Issue #128: Car Travel in Germany

Tip of the Week

It is advisable to get a "green card" from your insurance company, which extends insurance coverage to driving in Europe. You might also consider getting an extra breakdown insurance and personal security coverage. If you or your car are from an EU country, Norway or Switzerland, all you need is your domestic license and proof of insurance. Note that all foreign cars must have a country sticker. If you plan to rent a car in Germany you will get the best deal through a travel agent, who will shop around. When traveling during the holiday season, make sure that a confirmed reservation guarantees you a car. Happy traveling!
